School Holiday Sewing Program (Ages 13–18) August Monday 17th

Spend your school holidays learning a skill that lasts a lifetime. Our four-session sewing program is designed for teenagers who want to learn to sew properly in a calm, creative, and supportive environment.

Whether you’re interested in fashion, making your own clothes, or simply trying something new, this course provides a strong foundation in sewing while guiding you through the construction of your own pair of unisex summer shorts.

No previous sewing experience is required.

What You’ll Learn

Throughout the program you’ll gain practical, hands-on experience in:

* Sewing machine setup and operation
* Machine care and maintenance
* Measuring and cutting fabric accurately
* Reading and understanding sewing patterns
* Professional stitching and seam finishes
* Pressing techniques
* Sewing hems, pockets and an elastic waistband
* Building confidence using a sewing machine

Course Breakdown

Session 1 – Sewing Fundamentals

Build a strong foundation by learning how to safely use a sewing machine, thread it correctly, wind a bobbin, understand fabric grain, sew accurate seams, and read a sewing pattern.

Session 2 – Preparing Your Project

Learn how to lay out and cut your pattern correctly, transfer markings, prepare your fabric, and begin constructing your garment using professional techniques.

Session 3 – Garment Construction

Continue assembling your shorts while learning seam finishes, pocket construction, elastic waistbands, topstitching, and how to solve common sewing challenges.

Session 4 – Professional Finishing

Complete your garment with hems, final pressing, quality checks, and finishing techniques, leaving with a beautifully made pair of summer shorts and the confidence to continue sewing.
