Take your pattern-making skills further.
Level 2 continues from the Italian Pattern Making Level 1 course, building on the foundations covered in the Italian pattern-making book while introducing more advanced pattern manipulation techniques and garment construction methods.
Students will continue working through the book, developing a deeper understanding of pattern drafting, shaping and garment design. Alongside the book, we will explore additional techniques that allow you to adapt basic patterns, create new styles and achieve a more professional finish.
Topics covered include:
Pattern Manipulation: Learn additional methods of adapting and manipulating basic blocks to create different garment styles and silhouettes.
Dart Manipulation: Explore dart transfers, dart rotation and creating different dart placements and shaping.
Collars: Draft and construct different collar styles, understanding collar shapes, proportions and construction.
Facings: Learn how to draft, adapt and apply facings for different necklines and garment openings.
Contouring: Develop a better understanding of shaping patterns to follow the contours of the body for a more precise fit.
Advanced Pattern Development: Explore additional drafting techniques and design variations to expand your pattern-making knowledge.
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for students who have completed Italian Pattern Making Level 1 and are comfortable with the basic principles of pattern drafting. It is ideal for those who want to develop their technical skills and gain more confidence in creating and adapting their own patterns.
The aim: To move beyond basic pattern drafting and develop the skills to turn design ideas into well-developed, professionally drafted patterns.
